I made it from raw Matka silk - it's an amazing material, has the rough appearance of homespun handloomed old linen, only much softer and lighter, with a subtle pearly sheen. It feels extremely nice and soft on the skin. It has a naturally slubby, nubbly and bobbly texture - some further bobbling may occur with wear and wash.
It was originally a plain baby blue colour, which i ran through a secondary light indigo wash and herbal stain to achieve the current, multi-tone periwinkle / faded denim shade. There is quite a bit of colour variation due to this process, it is intentional and part of the design.
It has raw-edge (unhemmed) frills at the bottom, neckline, sleeves and incorporated in the bodice seams. The frills and ruffles are lightweight silk dip-dyed to an ombre effect ranging from light aqua to deep teal.
Asymmetric hemline, longer at the back / shorter at the front.
Has a printed fine leather (lambskin and matte python) applique on the back. Closes with five blue mother-of-pearl buttons with floral pattern.
There's decorative stitching detail at various parts.
I recommend you handwash (or machine-wash cold at delicate setting) it in lukewarm water with a silk/wool detergent and air-dry. Looks better without ironing, but you can iron it at silk setting - but make sure you avoid all the leather trims and buttons when ironing.
